Salon Policies:
Welcome to the Silverdale Grooming Company Experience
At Silverdale Grooming Company, your pet is the star of the show! We believe in rolling out the red carpet for every guest—furry or otherwise. Our policies are designed to create a smooth, safe, and fabulous grooming experience for pets and pet parents alike. Think of this as your VIP guide to how we operate behind the scenes to ensure your pet's health, safety, and comfort in our salon spotlight.
So take a seat in your director’s chair, and let’s walk through what it takes to keep this production running like clockwork.
🎬 Vaccination Requirements
Every star needs to be protected on set! Per Kitsap County regulations, we require a current rabies vaccination on file. We also strongly recommend DHPP (distemper, hepatitis, parainfluenza, and parvo) and Bordetella vaccines for dogs and feline distemper and feline leukemia for cats For our up-and-coming puppy stars, their debut grooming must be at least one week after their second DHPP booster. For our up-and-coming kitten stars, their debut grooming must be at least one week after their second set of vaccines.Rabies is not required until they're 6 months old.
🩺 Health Disclosures
Before stepping onto our grooming stage, we need to know any medical history, medications, past surgeries, or injuries. Transparency is key to ensuring your pet’s comfort and safety. Grooming procedures may sometimes aggravate an existing condition and having the stats before hand helps us keep your pet happy, healthy, and fabulous.
⏰ Late Arrivals & Pickups
Running fashionably late? Please text us if you’re going to be late. Arrivals more than 15 minutes past your appointment may need to be rescheduled or moved to the end of the day. After the show wraps, pets should be picked up within 30 minutes of notification unless special arrangements are made. A late pick-up fee may apply after one hour.
❌ Client Cancellations
If you need to cancel or change your appointment, please give us at least 48 hours’ notice. The first missed appointment is on us! After that missed appointments without notice will require pre-payment for future bookings, which is non-refundable if you no-show or cancel with less than 48 hours notice.
🎭 Leash & Lobby Etiquette
All dogs must arrive on a leash—we’ve got loaners if you forget. Cats should arrive in carriers or on a harness and leash. Please let your pet do their business before entering. We provide poop bags, hand sanitizer, and an outdoor trash can for convenience. Please remember, not all celebrity pets are social! Give space as needed in the lobby.
🎥 No On-Set Distractions
Please avoid interacting with your pet during grooming. When they see you, the scene is over in their mind! Distractions could lead to injuries due to sharp tools. If grooming is interrupted, we may have to send your pet home as-is and still charge for the full service. Please text 850-754-4665 to communicate if your pet is in the salon.
🐜 Fleas?! Eeek!
Nobody wants a pest on the red carpet. If we discover fleas, we will use a fast-acting flea shampoo and a $20 charge will be added. This keeps all salon guests safe and itch-free. We recommend consulting your veterinarian for flea preventatives.
✂️ Dematting & Coat Maintenance
Each session includes 15 minutes of brushing. After that, it's $20 per additional 15 minutes. We’ll perform one major dematting service per pet, defined as 50% of the pets “surface area”, IF your pet is tolerant. Once we have gotten an overdue Pet Star back in shape it is their Manager (owner’s) responsibility to ensure timely visits to the salon or adequate brushing at home. Pre-booking your next visit is highly recommended! We’re also happy to coach you on brushing techniques for your pet’s coat type—just ask!
If a pet returns to the salon with matting that will take longer than 15-30 minutes to brush out a Sleek and Chic smooth haircut will be in order!
👂 Ear Plucking
Ear hair removal is done conservatively and only when appropriate. If your pet has symptoms of an ear infection, we may skip cleaning or plucking to avoid discomfort and preserve test accuracy for your vet.
🚫 Anal Glands
We leave this procedure to the pros. Anal glands are internal organs and should be expressed by a licensed veterinarian or vet tech only. External expression by groomers can be incomplete or risky.
🐾 Temperament & Behavioral Issues
We love working with all kinds of personalities—divas included! If your pet has grooming sensitivities, let us know before their first appointment.
We do not groom sedated pets, and some medications may disqualify a pet from service due to safety concerns. Our priority is forming a positive bond with your pet, not rushing them through a stressful experience.
🛑 Safety First
If at any time your Pet Star is at risk of injuring themselves or the groomer the groom will be stopped for that day. This includes if they are displaying any sign of a medical condition or are too overstimulated. Safety always comes before style.
🎭 Grooming-Related Injuries
Although rare, accidents can happen. Please report any concerns within 48 hours so we can investigate and adjust our tools or technique accordingly. We’re always transparent and responsive.
⏳ Appointment Duration
Grooms typically take 2 to 4 hours depending on the service and pet. If a session exceeds 4 hours due to coat condition or behavioral needs, it may be split into two appointments.
If unforeseen challenges arise and we’re running past closing, we may reschedule to complete the service.
🚨 Emergencies & Natural Disasters
In case of a medical emergency, our trained staff will respond appropriately, including CPR, First Aid and transportation to a vet if necessary at your expense. You and/or your emergency contact will be notified immediately. Please notify us if you would NOT like CPR performed on your pet.
In the event of a natural disaster your pet will be cared for in the most appropriate manner for the situation (shelter in place or evacuate) until we can reunite you.
📆 Shop Schedule & Closures
Sometimes we may need to reschedule appointments due to emergencies or inclement weather. We follow Central Kitsap School District closures during winter weather for everyone’s safety.
📸 Photo Release
We love sharing our star clients! Unless you opt out, your pet’s glam shots may appear on social media or our website. Just let us know if you prefer to keep your pet’s photos private.
🔐 Your Privacy Matters
We collect personal information (like your phone number) only for salon communication. Your info will never be sold or shared—period.
🎟️ Right to Refuse Service
We reserve the right to decline service to any client or pet at our discretion for safety, health, or behavioral concerns.
